Do you know Duffy’s newest friend, an adorable sea turtle originated from Hawaii? Previously named ‘Olu, the character debuted in Summer 2018, and was designed exclusively for Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa. He got a new name recently, ‘Olu Mel, which means “melody” to indicate his musical talent.

Indeed, it is quite confusing for a character to suddenly change its name after debut. This is not the first time for Disney to change the name of a character. CookieAnn, previously known as Cookie, changed its name in order to be released in overseas.

‘Olu Mel has just arrived at Shanghai Disney Resort with themed merchandise available. At the same time, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort has announced that ‘Olu Mel will be coming soon. A little fun fact, the name of ‘Olu Mel had already appeared at Hong Kong Disneyland last Christmas, inside a room filled with presents.

After changing his new name, ‘Olu Mel has embarked for a new adventure outside of Hawaii, sharing his songs with people in different places. Are you feeling excited about this adorable new friend?
